The title of this post is taken from Phil Collins’ I Wish It Would Rain Down. It was released at the beginning of the 90s, six years before he left the band Genesis, and it features Eric Clapton on the guitar. This track is one of Phil Collins’ well known singles from his fifth solo album …But Seriosly. Another great single from this album is Another Day in Paradise.
I Wish It Would Rain was influenced by the problems he faced during the creation of the album; from society, his father, and his second wife.
Phil Collins Trivia
Originally, Phil began his music career as a drummer not as a lead vocalist
He married and divorced 3 times and has 5 children (4 own, 1 adopted).
Phil terminated his solo career in 2003, and reunited and toured with Genesis in 2007.
The track I chose for these two weeks is Katherine McPhee’s single I Know What Boys Like, a cover produced for The House Bunny(also referred to as I Know What Boys Like) movie.
This movie was released in August produced by Adam Sandler’s Happy Madison Productions.
Anna Faris stars as Shelley, an orphan who becomes and lives her perfect life as a Playboy Bunny, until she turns twenty seven. The day after her twenty seventh birthday, Shelley received a letter which is believed to be from Hugh Hefner, asking her to leave the mansion with her belongings in two hours. Later on the film shows you that the letter wasn’t really written by Hugh Hefner but by a jealous Playboy Bunny. The film continues by showing how Shelley manages to live and how she deals with, a hard life outside her perfect life at the Playboy Mansion…
Some celebrities that star in this move are Hugh Hefner, Hefner’s Playboy Bunnies, Anna Faris (from My Super Ex-Girlfriend) and Katherine McPhee (American Idol), Colin Hanks (son of the actor Tom Hanks) and Rumor Willis (daughter of actors Bruce Willis and Demi Moore).
An official soundtrack wasn’t planned to be realesed. Katherine McPhee’s track, was released on iTunes this July, and it was covered from the 1980s I Know What Boys Like track, released by The Waitresses in 1982.
Today, on the news i heard that Miriam Makeba, who is also known as Mama Afrika, died yesterday at the age of 76. She died of a heart attack, after performing in a concert in Italy. Although i know about many music and artists of the past, i did not know who is Mama Afrika until i found a song which i and most probably you too heard many times. The song is called “Pata Pata“ and as i was planning to begin a weekly or monthly post about past and present music tracks, I will begin with this song as a tribute to Mama Afrika…
Finally, it happened! About a month ago, DjToby and Kristina Casolani released their new track called “Traces“, and every week it climbed a place in Malta’s Top 10 charts. Yesterday, it got to No.1 on the Malta’s Top 10 charts and today it got No.10 on Bay’s Top 40 charts.
Traces was composed and produced by DjToby & Kristina Casolani, taken from Sandro Vella’s concept for the forthcoming Maltese TV drama TRACESLAND, which is produced by rollDdice and will be shown on OneTV in January 2009.
The track can be downloaded for FREE either from the drama series’ website (TRACESLAND.com with lyrics) or from Kristina Casolani’s website (KristinaCasolani.com).
About TRACESLAND:
“A new drama series, with a twist, that will be aired from January 2009 on local television. The script is original and is written by Sandro Vella, while the artistic direction is in the good hands of Lawrence Buontempo…
Carefully hand-picked a good balance of established actors while also giving the opportunity to new local talent…
TRACESLAND is targeted towards a particular crowd… it’s a psychological thriller, with a good dose of reality, and sometimes, to a certain extent, it evolves into a documentary, with real life stories, that happen around us all the time, even on this tiny rock, while at the same time, the plot is intertwined into the realms of fiction.” (rollDdice)
What you think about Traces? Do you think it will remain No.1 on the Maltese Charts?
Sore throat is a very common symptom nowadays. It begins as a dry and mild sore throat, which usually one feels only in recurring mornings, and then it either stops or gets worse every morning leading to other worse stages. One cannot really detect if the sore throat is a temporary one or the one that gets worse, that is why one has to treat it at the first sign of sore throat.
At the first sign of sore throat, I usually take Halls Mentholyptus Extra Strong cough drops. When I took these drops form the very first mild sign, the soreness lasted from 1 to 5 days, but when I took these drops a day or more after the very first sign, these drops did not work well alone. There is a limit on how many Halls drops one can take per day. An adult can take up to 1 packet per day.
To cure a sore throat 100%, there are other treatments that help:
Natural Treatment:
take fruit juices and other liquids often
reduce dairy foods
suck zinc lozenges
rest voice
stay in a warm atmosphere
Herbal Treatment: Make tinctures for gargling from, or use cooled infusions of one or more of the following herbs:
Agrimony
Sage (antiseptic)
Thyme (antiseptic)
Myrrh
Liquorice sticks
Marshmallow leaf
Aromatherapy Treatment:
steam inhalations of Benzoin, Lavander or Thyme essential oil
taking half a teaspoon of honey with 1drop of Lemon essential oil.
* the green words are topics which i will be opening on later on in this blog.
As you might have noticed, some websites like to decorate their logo with a theme that has to do with the event of the day or week. Yesterday it was Halloween, and I noticed that the animation created by Yahoo, on their logo, was taken from Michael Jackson’s Thriller music video. The Yahoo! animation was zombie dancing the same dance moves as the zombies in Thriller.
Below, you can take a look at both the animation (if it won’t be changed or deleted by Yahoo) and a clip from the music video, to understand what I am talking about.
Flu doesn’t come all of a sudden, it comes as a sequence. It first comes as what we call sore throat, then blocked nose with coughs, after that comes coldevolving into catarrh which can lead to influenza. Influenza then can lead to more serious complaint as bronchitis which can become worse and might lead to death.
If we do not want the worst to happen we must end the sequence as early as possible. This is done by treating according to the stage we’re in.
In the coming weeks I will be giving natural tips on how to cope with each stage of flu, adding some personal tips on how I managed to stop at a particular stage.

Before trying this concealer, I have tried other renowned concealers. At first I tried a non soothing one (Rimmel), as I wasn’t sure if a concealer really heals spots and blemishes. This concealer did not really conceal blemishes, as when I applied concealer, I tried to spread it so that it evens out with my skin tone, and it kind of got removed. I had to put on also foundation to maybe hide them, but it did not really work as foundation is not really designed to conceal blemishes.
Then I tried the soothing concealers (The Body Shop, and Seba-med), and again they did not conceal and also didn’t really sooth blemishes!
W7 Wand Concealer with Tea Tree Oil is available in 2 shades (light or medium). It is a liquid concealer with a sponge applicator wand, just like the ones used in lipgloss. It is created to conceal and heal blemishes, and conceal dark under-eye circles.
To heal and sooth spots and blemishes, it contains tea tree oil. Tea tree oil is an anti-bacterial essential oil that is commonly used to heal, sooth and clear acne (spots and blemishes).
Recently, I’ve tried the W7 wand concealer, a brand which I never heard before but it seems that it is renowned and commonly used in the UK, and surprisingly enough, it worked.
Instructions:
Concealer applied on blemishes with wand
Concealer dries on skin (… don’t let it get too dry …)
Spread the dry concealer with finger to even out with skin tone
Bob’s your uncle!
W7 concealer dries blemishes while it conceals them, and they are soothed after the third time the concealer is applied on your skin.

October, the month when international health organisations campaign for the Breast Cancer disease and raise funds for its research, prevention and cure.
Talking about campaigns, this month the MPSA (Malta Pharmaceutical Students Association) just launched a Women’s Health Awareness Campaign website consisting of various topics about the health of women.
The aim of launching this website now, was to campaign the awareness to University students attending the University of Malta Fresher’s Week.
Currently the website consists of only four topics:
Some facts about Breast Cancer
The Role of Calcium in Women’s Health
Chlamydia – Let’s break the silence!
Is-saħħa Sesswali
but by time it will have more topics. So keep tuned to Sahhti.org for updates!
The following is a video giving a short Pilates plus Stretching routine for women, like me, who don’t feel like going to the gym because of the dull winter weather, but they still want to keep fit.
At first you won’t manage to do them well, as you feel kind of stiff, but by time you get used to the routine and at the same time your muscles get toned.
